The Automobile Club of Southern California is offering its free “Tipsy Tow” service starting tomorrow at 6 p.m. The service is offered until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1st to help remove drinking drivers from the road. Those seeking or requiring a Tipsy Tow may call 1-800-400-4222.
The service is restricted to a one-way, one-time ride for the driver and is available to both members and non-members of AAA. It does not include rides for passengers and may only be up to seven miles from the origin of pickup.
Motorists, bartenders, restaurant managers, party hosts or passengers of a drinking driver may call for the free tow home. Callers simply tell the Auto Club operators, “I need a Tipsy Tow,” to receive the free tow and ride home. A regular Auto Club-contracted roadside service truck will be dispatched. The Auto Club’s free service is unique in that it transports both the driver and their vehicle.
In addition, all Metro bus and rail lines on New Year’s Eve will be free to ride from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
