From Councilman Bill Rosendahl:
Dear Friends-
Every few years, a court decision causes all sorts of problems for Venice Beach. As part of that unfortunate pattern, a federal judge in October threw out the City’s rules for allocating space and regulating noise on the boardwalk. As a result, we have a chaotic mix of unregulated vending and excessive noise.
My office has been working closely with the City Attorney to fix this situation and craft a replacement ordinance. We want to clear up the confusion on the boardwalk and make it enjoyable for everyone: tourists, residents, entertainers and artists.
Attached is the new proposed ordinance. There will be several opportunities to voice your opinion, including a public hearing tomorrow morning and an opportunity before the City Council in the coming weeks.
