Venice Library Events Schedule: June 2012

Save the Date! June 2nd from 9am-3pm! Used Book Sale! Buy that book you always wanted but couldn’t find. Lots of children’s books as well. All proceeds go to the library!

Adult Events

June 5: Mindful Meditation. Take a refreshing pause by simply sitting and paying attention to senses, feelings and thoughts. 7pm

June 7– Adult Yoga Bring a mat & get ready to breath…. Open to all levels! 6pm

June 14– Parenting Workshop Join Meryle Gellman, a psychoanalyst, psychotherapist and author with over 30 years of experience treating families and kids in West Los Angeles. Join Dr. Gellman for a discussion of the special relationship between fathers and daughters. Families welcome. 6:30p

June 26– Adult Fiction Book Club Join our discussion! Night Circus by Morgenstern copies will be available at the Library. 6:30p

June 29: Computer Classes Internet 1A— Intro to Google search. Sign up is encouraged 2 pm

Children’s Programs

June 6, 20, 27 — Toddler Storytime: Stories, songs, and fingerplays for newborn to 3 years. 11:30 am

June 7, 14, 21, 28— Toddler Storytime: Stories, songs, stretches for newborns to 3 years old. 3:30 pm

June 6—Jazz It Up with Baby & Me. Dance, stretch & strengthening for you & baby! Join instructor Lia Montelongo for 1/2 hr class. Sign Up @ Library. 4pm

June 13— Craft Activity. Celebrate Fathers day with expression—variation upon a tie. Ages 2+.

June 9— Yoga for Kids! Grab your towel/mat, listen to a story & practice yoga. Ages 5+. 4pm

June 28– Lego Night ! Kids, build & create structures with your friends and parents. Blocks provided & bring your creativity! All ages. Parental involvement encouraged. 6:30p

Teen Programs

June 20 Teen Council Meeting: Get involved in your library and earn community service hours! Pizza served. 4pm

June 21– Jewelry Making Join us as Danli “Imani” Bayne teaches the art of making personalized, handcrafted jewelry. All materials provided. Attendance is limited so sign up early! 4 pm

Family programs

June 12 —Altered Book/iPad workshop. Make a unique book purse or iPad cover using recycled books. Families welcome; kids 5+. 12pm

GAB (Grown-ups and Books)

Storytelling Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays:
Trained volunteers read to children of all ages in the Children’s Reading Room. Call or visit the branch for specific times.

StudentZone Monday-Thursday 3-5p (M, W); 3:30-5:30p (Tu-Th).
The Venice Branch Library offers a dedicated space, essential supplies, equipment, resources, trained staff & volunteers to assist students
grades 4-12. Free printing
