Shuttered: St. Joseph Center’s Thrift Store

The St. Joseph Center’s Thrift Store at 1828 Lincoln Boulevard is closing on January 5th. The center moved to this location in March of 2010 after closing their Venice location.

St Joseph Center Thrift Store

From the St. Joseph Center:

Thank you so much for your past support of St. Joseph Center’s Thrift Store. Given the continuing economic challenges that have impacted many small businesses, and despite a great deal of work to improve operations over the last few years, we have found it difficult to maintain profitability.

As a result, our Thrift Store will be closing on January 5, 2013. The last day we are able to pick up donations will be December 14, 2012. However, we will still accept donations dropped off at the store until January 4. Inventory clearance sales will take place during our regular business hours throughout December (please note that we will be closed December 25 & 26 for Christmas).

Despite our Thrift Store’s unfortunate closure, I can assure you that St. Joseph Center’s range of programs that directly assist low-income and homeless families and individuals remain strong. Thanks to a solid base of support in the public and private sectors, we will continue to fulfill our mission of providing working poor families, as well as homeless men, women and children of all ages, with the inner resources and tools to become productive, stable and self-supporting members of the community.

I invite you to take a moment to visit www.stjosephctr.org to learn more about St. Joseph Center’s programs and how you can become more involved in supporting our work. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available, including the chance to have a positive impact on people’s lives by organizing a drive to collect much-needed items such as towels, diapers, food supplies, and more.

We appreciate your understanding of this transition and we hope that you will continue to support our mission and work within the community. If you have questions about the Thrift Store, please contact myself or Paul Rubenstein, Development Director, at 310-396-6468 ext. 335. Once again, thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Va Lecia Adams, Ph.D.
