Willie Lee Turner, also known as “Solomon” the “snake charmer”, was arrested yesterday for apparently performing outside of an assigned “performance” space on Ocean Front Walk. Vivianne of “Name on Rice” fame was there with her video camera to document the arrest.
In the video, Solomon references his ongoing civil lawsuit against the LAPD as well as his belief that he was recently “framed” by the LAPD in April of last year, which resulted in his being locked up for 19 days. (Information about the April arrest is here.)
While Solomon would likely make his life a lot easier and arrest free by simply performing in an assigned space, it does seem like the LAPD should be going after the commercial vendors that have become rampant on the boardwalk over a guy that actually “performs”.
