The Venice Art Crawl is happening all over Venice this evening (Click here for the event map) and the awesome Dogtown Artists United (DAU) are officially back in action!
The Venice-based artist collective will land this time on Windward Ave in an exclusive loft-like space on multiple levels. The event will be co-produced by the non-profit organization “811 Artist Emergency“.
The event is 21 and over and invite only. To RSVP, click here or here. ID’s will be checked against the list, so don’t forget them at home! You will not get in if you are not on the list / don’t have an ID!
Dogtown Artists United has firmly established themselves in the Venice art world by organizing “pop-up” one night art events in different locations over the past 2 years. Previous locations have included urban spaces in decay that the group brought back to life as well as the famous ‘Blu House’ on the boardwalk.
Each Dogtown Artist United event is uniquely curated and is characterized by an eclectic but consistent set of visual arts, interactive installations, video projections and performance art, creating a distinctive multi-sensory experience. In 2011, DAU produced a large scale mural by Shepard Fairey (Obey) by the beach that the tourists still stop by to photograph.
DAU’s curatorial effort is particularly focused on interactive art, with attention towards new technologies and new media.
This edition of Dogtown Artist United art crawl will feature Matt Elson’s Infinity Boxes, Richard Busby’s Interactive Drawing Robot, paintings by Telopa and Enzensberger, laminations by Mare Costello, sculptures by Chango, video projections by Vhilm and, as a special guest, the famous German video artist Brummbaer.
The evening will develop around the live performances of 3 up and rising local bands starting from 7pm: Deprogramming Division, Phlyte Risk and The Cerny Brothers.
