7 Dudley Cinema will present the 10th Annual Venice Film Festival tomorrow evening, January 3rd, at Beyond Baroque starting at 7 pm. The event is free, and will feature Venice historian Jeffrey Stanton!
Jeffrey Stanton’s lecture will start the evening off and feature “film clips and shorts from silent films shot in the 1920’s mainly on Venice and Ocean Park’s piers”. Stanton will also have his awesome Venice history books for sale ($50, bring cash) and his banned Venice cartoon map from 1985.
The Film Festival, hosted by Gerry Fialka, will feature films made in Venice, a “celebration of Sponto Gallery’s otherworldlyness: infamous Dumpster Diving Fashion Show Film, Lynne Littman’s Number Our Days plus live performances by Wadada (seminal Venice street performer of roots-rock-reggae)”. Attendees are invited to “experience the essence of Spontofication Rituals in art, music, poetry, and the freedom of creativity”.
