Well known, well respected and well loved tattoo artist John “SWAG” Knowles died on Sunday of a brain aneurysm while at home in Venice. SWAG was 43.
Originally from England, Knowles had been a presence in Venice for over two decades, starting at Tattoo Asylum on Windward before opening his own Tattoo Lounge on Venice Blvd. His legacy of art lives on through his many clients as well as his collaborations with Oscar Galan on the “Hecho en Venice” line.
There will be a Paddle Out memorial starting at 9 am on Sunday, December 9th at the Venice Pier.
