The RG Club Opens at 8pm Tonight!

The RG Club (previously the Red Garter) at 2536 Lincoln opens tonight with a performance by the legendary Azar Lawrence with his Quartet.

The doors of the club will open at 8, Azar begins at 9 and will play until ’round midnight, the bar closes at 2 am and valet parking is out front. The club is 21 and over, the cover charge is $10, domestic beers start at $5 and wines and well drinks start at $8. The outdoor patio has been covered and is also heated, so don’t worry about the rain!

Azar is known for his recordings with Miles Davis on the classic “Dark Magus: Live At Carnegie Hall”, Earth, Wind and Fire’s Grammy award nominated “Powerlight” and Marvin Gaye’s Grammy award winning “Here My Dear”.

An artist with an avant-garde spirit and style of his own, Azar also had a lengthy tenure with legendary Coltrane pianist McCoy Tyner’s Quartet where he recorded several impressive albums such as “The Enlightenment Suite” and “Atlantis”.
